All courses deserve to happy little home (aka a course hosting platform). If you’ve started to explore your options, it probably took about 4 seconds of Googling to become completely overwhelmed.
To help reduce that overwhelm, I’ve come up with 5 questions to ask yourself that will help you narrow down the options.
1. How important is it to you that you have direct access to students that enroll in your course, both for course purposes and future marketing purposes? If it’s important to you, then you’ll want to avoid course marketplaces like Udemy, which doesn’t give you any direct access to your learners.
2. Do you need or want to be able to create funnels within the platform? If you don’t already have a funnel builder, you might want to consider Kajabi, Go High Level, or Clickfunnels, all of which allow you to create funnels AND host your course.
3. What features do you need? If you want features like coupon codes, subscription models, or affiliate tracking, you’ll want to look into a third-party hosting option like Thinkific, Teachable, or Kajabi and pick a plan with those features.
4. Do you prefer drag and drop or full customization? Full customization tends to be a bit more techy, but you can look into options like LearnDash which can integrate directly with your WordPress website. Another option is Academy of Mine which actually includes custom programming every month. Be warned though- it’s not cheap!
5. Do you want a free plan? Free plans are limited in your customization options and features but are available on Thinkific and Teachable. Or you could do Creative Mind Class which doesn’t charge you until you make a sell. The amount charged depends on the features you use.
